About Rehoboth
Since 1905

Rehoboth is a home where “God has made room” for those in need…

Our History

Rehoboth Is a Registered Charitable Trust. The word ‘Rehoboth’ is from the Hebrew language and it means, “God has made room for us”. Rehoboth Girls’ Orphanage is therefore a very special place where God has made room for those who are in need of a place.

110 years ago a gentleman from Germany came and settled in Kerala. His name was Volbriech Nagel. A man with a heart of compassion.

The vision was burning in his heart and he proceeded to build a dormitory for the orphan and destitute children in an ecofriendly land which is in Nellikkunnu Thrissur the cultural capital of Kerala State. On 1905 “REHOBOTH” was born! Soon after, he built a school as he knew how it would enrich the lives of the children if they could read and write.

Ever since, Rehoboth has been a place of shelter for many and has become ‘home’ for young and old and in their need they bonded to become the Rehoboth Family. Now for decades – well over a hundred years – Rehoboth has been committed to give succor to those in need and has acquired a profound understanding of the basic need of a human life – the need for love and individual care.

Over the years, Rehoboth has built up a reputation for service to the needy so that now its name is respected throughout the world. Many who were brought up In Rehoboth can testify to the influence this home has had in their lives. We were able to make a difference in over a thousand people and their families. From its inception, Rehoboth has had a very good relationship with the local people and statutory bodies. We receive regular support, visits and advices from these bodies.

Rehoboth Trust runs a Theological institute where we teach Theology and vocational courses. The Trust has also started an English medium school known as Rehoboth International School.

We are committed towards the welfare and empowerment of destitute children specially Girls. We accept any child sent by the Government or Child Welfare Committee. Rehoboth has registered with the Juvenile justice act. For improving the quality of the management system and our service towards the needy we have obtained an ISO certificate. The Present Trustees and Core Management Team works hard to keep the quality of our service and fulfill the mission and vision of Rehoboth.
